Join the Friends for a spring bird and woodland walk! Many migratory bird species, including warblers and wading birds, can be seen on Lake Waubesa and in nearby habitats this time of year.
Woodlands are also in bloom with spring wildflowers. All ages are welcome, and families are encouraged to attend.

Walk Leader: Friends of Capital Springs Recreation Area’s naturalist, Clare Carlson
Signup: Please email the number of people in your group to Clare (carlson.clare@countyofdane.com). Maximum attendance is 30 people.
Equipment: Bring a pair of binoculars.
Covid-19 Safety: Face coverings are strongly recommended outdoors when six feet spacing cannot be maintained. For more information, please see the Dane County order with guidance below.
Inclement Weather Policy: If the walk must be cancelled, attendees will be emailed by 8am on May 15.
Public Health Madison and Dane County has released Public Health Order #15. This Order goes into effect on April 7 and will remain in effect until May 5. A press release can be found here. Gathering Limits: No set outdoor gathering limit. Numbers must be limited to ensure people who don’t live together can maintain six feet physical distancing at all times. Face Coverings: There is no longer an outdoor face covering requirement. Face coverings are recommended for individuals partaking in outdoor activities where physical distancing of six (6) ft. is difficult to maintain.
