Paddle in the Parks @ Falk Wells Sugar River Wildlife Area

September 18 @ 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Join Dane County Parks staff in this relaxing 3.3 mile paddle on the Sugar River. Learn canoe paddle strokes, practice gaining comfort in a canoe, and enjoy a morning on Dane County waterways.

This event is free if you bring your own boat. We have five canoes available to rent for $20 each. Each canoe can hold up to two adults (paddling) and 1-2 children if seated. A PFD must be worn at all times while out on the water. Rental boats will include PFDs.

The route is about 3.3 miles long. It is a fairly easy paddle as long as there aren’t any obstacles to navigate around.

9:00-9:15 – Boat drop off at Hwy 69 Parking Lot – Canoe/Kayak Launch, (1752 State Highway 69, Verona)
9:15-9:45 – Park vehicles at Mill Park at the Hop Garden in Paoli (6889 Canal St Belleville). Vans will shuttle you back to your boats at the Hwy 69 parking lot.
9:45-10:15 – Remarks/Safety Talk
10:15-12:00 – Paddle the river from Highway 69 to Paoli

If you are bringing your own boat, you do not need to register in advance. If you would like to rent a boat from us, please register and pay online. Registration is required in advance to rent canoes.
