Lower Mud Lake Fall Work Days

November 4 @ 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

We will be working in a little gem of an oak woods that is home to a Native American linear mound as well as a beautiful display of spring ephemerals. Invasive shrubs and small trees will be removed from the perimeter of the woods and smaller shrubs removed from the interior. Larger interior trees will not be removed until the ground has frozen–watch for our winter work day. All work will be done in accordance with Dane County Parks and the Wisconsin State Historical Society guidelines for protection and preservation of Native American Mounds. When that work is completed, we will move on to clearing out remaining invasive trees and shrubs from the prairie adjacent to this woods.
