From the Field Webinar – Predators on the Whooping Crane Eastern Population’s Breeding Grounds

March 14 @ 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Despite over 20 years of reintroduction efforts, the Eastern Migratory Population of Whooping Cranes faces challenges with low recruitment. This is due to low rates of chicks surviving to independence, with predation being one of the primary causes of mortality for crane chicks.

This presentation will cover Nicole Gordon’s master’s thesis research assessing the presence and diversity of potential mammalian predators in relation to Whooping Crane chick-rearing areas and chick survival.
