Join the Friends of Stewart Lake during their “goat squad” workdays as they continue restoration work on a beautiful remnant prairie on the hillsides of Stewart Lake County Park. Volunteer to help remove invasive weeds and woody vegetation, move brush onto brush piles to be burned this winter and other work tasks to restore this rare historical remnant prairie. Work will be slower and more methodical to thoroughly remove and treat woody invasives and maintain the high-quality nature of this precious ecological site. Enjoy a few hours outdoors at this beautiful location in helping to restore this special remnant prairie. Your help will be very appreciated!
What to bring:
Bring drinking water and snacks if you’d like. Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate clothing that you don’t mind working in. and closed toe shoes. Work will be on the lower steeper part of the hillside so wear good traction boots or shoes. The workgroup meets at the dead end of Blue View Drive in Mt. Horeb (not at the Stewart Lake parking lot).
