Friends of Donald County Park – Saturday Restoration Workdays at Donald

November 19, 2022 @ 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Last winter, volunteers with Friends of Donald Park and Dane County Parks began restoring an oak savanna—one of the rarest ecosystems in the world. This spring and summer, we already saw progress as native species emerged and thrived. This fall and winter we will continue the work, hand-cutting and treating invasive brush, especially honeysuckle and sumac that has resprouted. No experience is necessary!

Wear sturdy shoes and clothes that are suitable for working outside and can withstand possible encounters with thorny brambles. We will have tools, but feel free to bring a lopper if you have one. Also bring water. We’ll provide the cookies.

Please RSVP to Liz McBride, the work party leader, so she can reach you if plans change. Also let us know if you are under 18 so we can obtain parent/guardian consent.

Donald County Park Parking Lot on Sutter Drive, off of Hwy 92 – 1945 WI-92 Trunk, Mt Horeb, WI 53572

Exact meeting coordinates are here – 42°57’32.2″N 89°40’53.8″W

Note: This is NOT the Pop’s Knoll entrance.
