Bring the whole family out for a fun-filled afternoon in the garden or on the farm! New in 2017, Community GroundWorks is thrilled to offer Family Field Trips. Each field trip will feature hands-on outdoor activities for parents and kids of all ages: harvest and cook a healthy snack, plant seedlings, explore the worm compost bins, or create outdoor art. At the Youth Farm, on Madison’s east side, unique experiences include meeting our honey bees or packing fresh produce to donate to the local food pantry.

Maximum number of participants for each field trip: 20.

Sample Family Field Trip Schedule 

• Welcome, orientation, and garden game
• Compost exploration & seasonal garden activity (planting, mulching, harvesting)
• Water & games break!
• Harvest & cook a garden snack OR Beekeeping (July 10 & August 7 only)
• Free choice time – create outdoor art or return to your favorite activity of the day!
• Wrap-up and farewell
