These courses are hosted by Dane County Parks and taught by certified SAWW (Safety and Woods Worker) trainer Luke Saunders. We are hosting level 1, Level 2, Level 3, and Level 101 courses. These are part of the four-level SAWW series designed to increase safety and efficiency of chainsaw use – here is more information on the SAWW program. These classes meet FISTA standards. Participants must 18 years of age or older by the class date in order to register.

What is SAWW 101?

SAWW 101 is SAWW Level 1 material over two days instead of one day. This allows more time for participants to use their chainsaws than the SAWW 1 course. Both SAWW 101 and SAWW 1 result in the same Level 1 certification, though you must attend both days of SAW 101 to obtain the certificate. We are hosting this class because we want to offer people the option to build confidence using their saw while an instructor is present.

Cost:
•    Registered Dane County Parks Volunteer (Volunteers must already have a current registration form on file): $100
•    Volunteer for Non-Dane County Parks Land Restoration Agency: $210
•    Private Individual, Non-Volunteer: $280
•    Private Individual, Non-Volunteer – 50% Scholarship/ Financial Assistance: $140
