Bird & Nature Adventures | Warner Park
April 17, 2022 @ 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM
Looking for Ephemerals with Alex Singer ~ Join Master Naturalist Alex Singer for a free guided walk in Warner Woods to enjoy the return of spring! Ephemerals are flowers that bloom in woodlands while trees are still bare and sunlight reaches the ground. Warner Woods is reportedly the oldest uncut woods in Madison and it still harbors a variety of beautiful native wildflowers. Can you find the blotchy green lancet (spear-shaped) leaves of Trout Lilly, cheery daisy-shaped Bloodroots, delicate Dutchmen’s Breeches hanging in a row, bright white three-petaled Trilliums, Mayapple blossoms beneath large leaf umbrellas, yellow striped leaf cups of Jack in the Pulpit and other spring wildflowers along the path?
Enjoy an informal family and kid-friendly nature walk around the scenic Warner Pond lagoon and across Castle Creek to discover the wetlands, woods, and prairie in the Wild Side of Warner Park and the birds and other creatures that call it home! Walks at Warner Park held on the 3rd Sunday every month are co-sponsored by Madison Bird City FUN partners Wild Warner and Madison Audubon . Meet at the colorful Warner Park Shelter by the lagoon. Parking is available nearby. No registration is required. No pets are allowed.
