Bird & Nature Adventures | Owen

June 8, 2024 @ 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM

Walk in the Woods ~ Join Arboretum Naturalist Sylvia Marek and Master Naturalist Beth Whitaker for a fascinating free educational family friendly outing at Owen Park.  We will explore the beautiful woodlands and visit historic old oaks in the prairie ‘oak openings’ and learn about their contributions to the ecosystem.   We will try using the Seek app to help identify and learn more about the different trees by taking pictures of leaves and bark.  Then create an iNaturalist account so you can post your Seek findings to the iNaturalist database used by researchers all over the world!

Explore Owen Conservation Park on gentle trails through historic oak openings on a hillside with an Ice Age kettle and along restored prairies with beautiful vistas on this high point overlooking the west side of Madison. Co-sponsored by Madison Parks, Badgerland Bird Alliance, Madison Audubon Society,  and the Friends of Owen Conservation Park . Free, family-friendly guided nature walks at Owen Conservation Park are held on the 2nd Saturday of each month, year-round 2:30-4pm. No registration is required. No pets are allowed.

See Bird & Nature Adventures for other free nature events.
