Youth Volunteers 4 Conservation

November 20, 2022 @ 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

With the arrival of late fall/winter, we switch to more labor-intensive tasks such as cutting and hauling invasive brush. We’ll work to remove woody invasives such as honeysuckle, buckthorn, autumn olive, etc. and small non-native trees like black locust. Doing this helps us to more easily manage the land! Plan to use loppers and/or bow saws to cut back brush, or to help haul and stack brush in organized piles that we’ll plan to burn later. All tools, materials, and training will be provided.

What to bring: Dress appropriately for the weather in layers that you don’t mind working in. Wear closed-toe shoes or boots that will keep your feet warm. If there’s snow we will be working in it – make sure to plan ahead. Bring drinking water and a snack if desired.

**Waiver: All YV4C participants must have a completed and signed YV4C waiver (new as of 7/2022) on file before being able to participate in a workday. Instructions on how to complete this electronically are found here: https://lussierheritagecenter.com/YV4C. Completed hard copies can be brought in-person to the event.**

COVID-19 Guidelines: If you are experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms, do not attend.
