Saturday Restoration Workdays at Donald County Park

January 14, 2023 @ 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 1:00 PM on Saturday, repeating until January 28, 2023

Last winter, we began restoring an oak savanna–one of the rarest ecosystems in the world. This winter we will continue that work, hand-cutting invasive sumac and honeysuckle so that native species can emerge and thrive when spring arrives. New tools will enable us to spot-treat the stumps without bending over or getting too up-close and personal with herbicide. We will meet Saturdays in January from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm with a cookie break midway.

We will meet in the parking lot on Sutter Drive, off Hwy 92. Wear sturdy shoes and clothes suitable for working outside and can withstand possible encounters with thorny brambles. No experience necessary, tools are provided, but feel free to bring a lopper if you have one. Bring Water, we will provide the cookies.

Please RSVP to the trip leader: elizabeth-mcbride@sbcglobal.net/608-698-2753 in case we need to cancel or the location changes.
