Prairie Volunteer Work Days at the Heritage Center
Volunteers are needed to help maintain and improve the prairies surrounding the Lussier Family Heritage Center. These work days could include planting prairie plant plugs, watering, weeding, removing invasive species and other tasks necessary to care for the prairies native plant species.
Dates: Every first and third Friday, April through October, 9am to 12:00 noon.
Registration: These are informal work days; no registration necessary.We may not be able to accommodate large groups. If your group is interested in volunteering, please contact Madison Area Master Gardener, Percy Mather (percy.mather@gmail.com), to discuss.
How to prepare: Please bring your own drinking water and work gloves. Wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. Sunscreen and a hat are recommended, long-sleeved shirts as protection when working among tall prairie plants as well as for sun protection also recommended. Gardening tools will be provided.
Parking and restrooms are available on site.
Inclement weather: People on the registration list will be notified no later than the evening before the workday.
