We’ll review FREE digital and virtual resources, curriculum packages, and field trip opportunities that will engage your students in interdisciplinary learning while promoting ecoliteracy and environmental stewardship.
Virtual Jones Island Tour
Friday, August 7 @ 10 am (optional but highly recommended)
Ever wonder what happens to the water when you flush the toilet? Billions of gallons of wastewater are treated every year at two reclamation facilities that serve 1.1 million people in 28 communities. Join us to see the process of cleaning our water first hand with a virtual tour of the Jones Island Water Reclamation Facility owned and governed by the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, and operated and maintained by Veolia Water Milwaukee.
The session will include information on the wastewater treatment process, how wastewater is cleaned and returned to Lake Michigan, jobs in water, and a live question and answer. After you experience this tour you will want to bring your students! MMSD and Veolia Water Milwaukee offer FREE tours of Jones Island Water Reclamation Facility for students 5th grade and up as well as bussing reimbursement. Join us Friday, August 7th at 10 am to learn more!
