Crane Congregations Expert Tour

November 14, 2019 @ 1:30 PM - 5:00 PM

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 1:30 PM on Sunday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, repeating until December 8, 2019

$75

Discover why Leopold found sandhill cranes so majestic – learn about their biology and history from renowned bird expert Dr. Stanley Temple, then see them up close in Leopold Country! For weeks before they take flight to migrate south, sandhill cranes gather in mass, by the thousands, on the islands and sandbars of the Wisconsin River. The Aldo Leopold Shack and Farm has become the region’s premier vantage point to experience the incredible sights and sounds of this wildlife spectacle.

Join us at the Leopold Center for a wine and cheese reception followed by a warm welcome and presentation by Dr. Stanley Temple. Following the presentation, Dr. Temple will be your guide throughout, offering an interpretation of the spectacle and the landscape as well as serving as a resource for questions.

Optional: Join us for a complimentary tour of the Leopold Shack and Farm before Crane Congregations for the full experience! These tours, outside of our normal visitation season, will be offered 1.5 hours prior to the start of each public crane tour.

Cancellation: If plans change and you are unable to attend the crane tour for any reason, you may request to cancel your registration for a 100% refund up until 1 week before the scheduled date. We cannot issue refunds for cancellations less than 7 days before the tour.
