Bird & Nature Adventures | Warner Park
November 20, 2022 @ 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM
Prairie Seed Collection with Alex Singer ~ Anyone can help start native wildflower seeds and plant them for birds, butterflies, and bees! Join Master Naturalist Alex Singer for a free family-friendly guided walk to see and learn about seed dispersal strategies of prairie plants. Think about what to look for when collecting your own seeds. Learn how to start or expand a native plant garden in your yard. Look for a Milkweed pod along the path that is turning brown. Open it to reveal hundreds of seeds inside, each attached to a plume of white fluff that can carry it on the wind to a new location where it might take root.
Enjoy an informal family and kid-friendly nature walk around the scenic Warner Pond lagoon and across Castle Creek to discover the wetlands, woods, and prairie in the Wild Side of Warner Park and the birds and other creatures that call it home! Walks at Warner Park held on the 3rd Sunday every month are co-sponsored by Madison Bird City FUN partners Wild Warner and Madison Audubon . Meet at the colorful Warner Park shelter by the lagoon. Parking is available nearby. No registration is required. No pets are allowed.
