Arctic Owls With Hoo’s Woods
January 15, 2022 @ 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
$5Arctic Owls with Hoo’s Woods
Arctic owls are some of the most beautiful, fascinating, and elusive birds in the world. Snowy owls are the largest owl in North American and breed in the arctic. Great Gray Owls are rare and the tallest owl in the world nesting in the dense boreal forests across Alaska and Canada in North America. On occasion, these two arctic species can be sighted during the winter months in Wisconsin. This program will introduce you to both species. During this 30-minute education program, participants will meet, Wesley, our education snowy owl, and Queen, our Great Gray Owl. Participants will learn about their natural history, breeding, habitat, and behaviors.
Want more owl science? Stay after Hoo’s Woods presentation to discover what owls eat by dissecting an owl’s pellet. Then join us for a dark hike where we will listen for owl sounds in Big Hill Park. We might just hear one.
