Getting outside and connecting with nature can make a big difference for young children. Here at Nature Net, our goal is to help connect you with opportunities to do just that! Many of our Nature Net partner sites have a wealth of resources for outdoor nature exploration for all ages, and that includes activities perfect for the younger kids. As is our motto, no child left inside!

Really connect with nature while you’re outdoors with the little ones with these activities:

Aldo Leopold Nature Center

Each season, the Nature Center has their Wonder Bugs programming, where little adventurers can engage with seasonally-specific nature wonders and experience the joys of the outdoors.

Cave of the Mounds

Each month, the Cave of the Mounds has a special add-on activity for kids to engage with during their visit. In addition, they also have more background info and activities to help make the trip even more fun!

Lussier Family Heritage Center/Pheasant Branch Conservancy

The Heritage Center often has up a StoryWalk along their trail for visitors to enjoy, adding to the experience of being outdoors and often connecting the environment to kid-friendly stories. Dane County Parks has been doing traveling StoryWalks as well at other locations, including other Nature Net member site the Pheasant Branch Conservancy. The Heritage Center’s website often lists what StoryWalk is currently on.
